Crystal Vibes - Soul Sangeet

Shivam Rath (crystal slide guitar/sitar), Miko Sundari (voice) and Massimo Bidin (tabla) are presenting Soul Sangeet, a unique musical style based on Indian Classical Music combined with World Music. The Sanskrit word Sangeet means sound or music.

Since diving into the world of sound, Shivam has blended a unique 22 string slide guitar/sitar (known as the chattarangi) with a crystal slide. This fusion instrument symbolises a cross culture of harmony in sound and music.

For Shivam, the decision to use a Himalayan crystal opposed to the typical steel bar, came about due to touch and tonal qualities. It was a natural choice which came from observing other players using similar stones including the ancient stringed vichitra veena.

For the event in Kempsey, Shivam is accompanied by Miko Sundari with her clear voice soaring above the varied tones of the strings. Massimo Bidin's fast fingers on the tablas provide the magic rhythms thus completing this sound experience.
