Be swept away in an imaginative take on the folk idiom. Vanishing Shapes fuses old sounds of traditional folk music with modern influences such as electronic dance, progressive rock and classical, uniquely traversing from large cinematic soundscapes to twisted dance tunes all on acoustic instruments.

Endearingly dubbed ‘fairy music’ during an early tour, their unique sound has found a home in some unexpected places, receiving support from Newcastle’s warehouse scenes as well as sharing the stage with diverse national and international acts including Afenginn, The Crooked Fiddle Band and Asta. The band has kept themselves busy touring independently, releasing an EP and full length album and playing festivals including St Albans Folk Festival, Wollombi Music Festival and Regrowth Festival.

Highly energetic live performances are a bit humorous whilst bouncing from being playful, harrowing and ethereal creating moments that appeal to urges of dance, crying and escaping to other dimensions.

Bluesmaster Lloyd Spiegel is coming to the HOT CLUB!

Lloyd Spiegel has always forged his own path throughout his long career. A lifetime performing has seen him blend his grounding in the blues with storytelling and dazzling acoustic guitar technique to create a unique show and sound that is launching him onto festival and theatre stages around the globe as a true master of his craft.

His new album ‘Backroads’ is a hard-edged, brutally honest account of Spiegel's life outside of music and reinvents his sound for new audiences, delivering more punch in his most powerful studio performance to date.

Along with Cole Clark guitars, Lloyd designed guitars specifically for the recording and a new duo show with drummer Tim Burnham promises to deliver his biggest stage sound yet.

Says Spiegel of the new album "So much of what I've written in the past is focussed on where I'm going. Both literally and figuratively. I'm a driven person and never really paused to think about the sacrifices, what I've left behind till I sat for a moment and started writing."

"The plan to step outside of what people might expect from me, sound fresh and push harder made it feel like I had no boundaries placed on me and I had a sense of creative freedom with this one that I hadn't felt before. I hadn't really let loose with an electric guitar on record since I was a teenager.... it felt good."

The Album ‘Backroads’ is available for presale from April 16, and in store from May 15 through Only Blues Music.
