The Stuarts Point Players return to the stage this October with two one-act comedies, which are sure to get you laughing.

Both plays are written by Queensland playwright Mark Lucas, who has been producing edgy one-act comedy and drama for 16 years.

“These plays are written with the desire to drag people away from their lounge rooms, take them on a wild ride and provide them with entertainment that is on a par with if not better than what they are seeing on television,” Lucas said.

The first half of the Players’ production has just three characters on stage, for the comedy ‘Avatar’. Virgil is no angel but when he comes face to face with Anastasia while burgling her home, he wears a different hat … or is that halo? An open window and Virgil’s brolly-wielding nemesis, Charlotte, add to his misfortune as the race for the inheritance turns into a battle of half-wits.

The second half features four actors in ‘Stroke’. Stacey and Sandra find themselves holed-up in a cheap motel after robbing a bank. Unfortunately for them, the room’s other tenants return. But this could be a twist of luck for the girls as both Myron and his wife Adele are visually impaired and can’t identify them. Nothing can prepare you for the outrageous revelations that will ensure you discover that justice is, indeed, blind.

The plays will open at the South West Rocks School of Arts on Friday, October 26, and then move to Stuarts Point on Saturday, October 27. The following weekend there will be a performance at the Oddfellows Hall in West Kempsey, on Friday, November 2, and the final outing will be at Stuarts Point on Saturday, November 3.

*Both plays are rated MA and contain sexual references and strong language.
