This event forms an important part of the Macleay Valley Coast's events calendar for both tourists and residents. Sculpture in the Gaol is a month-long sculpture exhibition and competition with a ten-year history. The exhibition runs from Saturday 3rd to Saturday 30th August 2019 and is hosted by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service at the iconic Trial Bay Gaol.

The sculpture exhibition attracts artist entries from all over NSW and south east Queensland, including many local schools from around the Macleay Valley. Works are exhibited in and around the gaol cells, which makes for a unique gallery experience.

In recent years, Sculpture in the Gaol has received up to 5,000 visitors during the month-long exhibition with some 1,800 of those visiting the gala opening on Sunday, August 4.

The Family Gala Day Markets are very popular with 30 art & craft and food stalls and live music entertainment.
