“Dan’s songs are of that rarified level that make him the envy of most singer-songwriters” Americana UK.
“If Dan Tuffy came in bottles I would order a case of him” Fried Coyote Magazine, New York.
Not bad raps for a lad who grew up in Kempsey! His music has since taken him onto the stages of the UK & Europe where he now lives with a career as a music producer that spans almost four decades. Dan returns to his old hometown to play a special one-off gig at the Bandbox Theatre in West Kempsey on Sunday 21 July. Dan was also a member of the ARIA award winning group Wild Pumpkins at Midnight in the 1980’s & 90’s.
Sharing the bill will be the fantastically eccentric Northern Rivers folk outfit BELLA FRANKIE who among their ranks also have an ex-member of WPAM. So this afternoon of entertainment will be quite the reunion, making the show all the more special for musicians and public alike.
Dan’s connections to the Macleay Valley have never faded. He still has family in the area and friendships that go back to his childhood. His songwriting is littered with references to up river, where he worked as a teenager on Comara station, and to growing up in the river town in the 1960’s, 70’s & 80’s. His beautiful tribute to the valley “Old Macleay” has received many a spin on the popular Radio National program “Australia All Over”.
Dan’s solo work alongside the high-caliber delivery of the BELLA FRANKIE group promises to be a wonderful and rare double show combination. Bella Frankie play original, unhinged Aussie folk yarns cut with blues, country and pop, merging their unique voices in harmony with guitar, uke, cello, autoharp and harmonica. Not to be missed for lovers of original music!
